Garrett’s cooking
Classes:
AthleticFoodie Cooking Classes are taught by Garrett and center around the belief that healthy eating and good nutrition can be found in incredibly elicious food.
At the beginning of his international swimming career, Garrett was diagnosed with dangerously high blood pressure that threatened to kill his athletic career. Unable to still swim by simply taking the usually prescribed medications (many of which are banned by the anti-doping authority), Garrett was left to save his career and dreams by also making changes in his diet. Unfortunately, he could barely boil an egg. So he started taking classes and developed a passion for food. Unlike the months of dedication required for far away success in the pool, cooking offered instant gratification. A little
time in the kitchen, and a nearly immediate delicious reward.
Garrett’s passion for food and charismatic curiosity led him to connect with some of the worlds most acclaimed and respected chefs, and he has been privileged to “stage” (apprentice) around the world in their kitchens. He has learned from some of the best and taken that knowledge back into his own kitchen, developing techniques and recipes that help him make incredibly healthy food that tastes delicious.
He believes that taking great care with what he puts into his body has been critical to his overall health and success in the pool. He knows first hand the value of good nutrition and wants to spread the word.

TESTIMONIALS:
A few words from Garrett about teaching classes:
“Cooking is fun to me no matter where I’m doing it, but cooking for people, and teaching them how to make fast, healthy, and delicious food is really fulfilling.”
“It’s very important to me that people understand the concept that great tasting food can also be very nutritious for you. My classes aim to teach just that.”
“The first thing I tell people in my classes is that I’m not a chef. This kind of breaks down any stigmas and/or barriers. What ends up happening is that throughout the class we basically have a great discussion back and forth about how to cook good food!”
